Dear Editor,
I have been reading with interest the posts on Tasmanian Times regarding the appalling state of the AEU, Tasmanian Branch.
I worked for a brief time at the AEU, Hobart office as the New Educators’ Organiser in 2008. The bullying and harassment I experienced while I was in this position moved me to resign. I am therefore not at all surprised to read that Ross Dale has received hate mail, presumably from someone working within the branch. (Teachers war turns toxic, HERE)
Interestingly, Ross Dale is one of the few AEU officers left who is concerned with promoting members’ conditions. In fact, in my experience, the current AEU wastes members’ resources; undermining teachers’ conditions in the process.
For these reasons, I am no longer an AEU member or AEU Councillor. My only regret is that I will not get an opportunity to have my say in the elections.
Although perhaps I can, here, on Tasmanian Times –
VOTE THE RIGHT WAY:
PUT LEANNE LAST!
All the best to those working hard in schools, colleges and TAFE.
Kind regards,
Jo Lucas (PhD Education)
