I intend to be outside Parliament House at 11am, Thursday 19th (the last day of sitting before next March’s election!) with my pot and rolling pin to drum the LabLib Coalition off, as they scuttle away for their 4 month holiday.
If it’s not a holiday then I challenge each LabLib Coalition member to publish in The Mercury, at the end of each week, exactly what they have been doing during the past week.
Things like how many taxpayers they have met with (real taxpayers, not fully paid up LabLib Coalition members); what outcomes have been achieved and what local problems have been solved.
Otherwise it is just a 4 month long holiday, especially now that election funding from Gunns Ltd has been stitched up, is it not?
Remember, these ‘politicians’ wages and perks are paid by us taxpayers; they are our ‘employees’.
I will be outside Parliament House on Thursday 19th banging my pot for all the nurses, doctors, teachers, students, farmers, landholders, small business owners, government department employees, ratepayers, taxpayers & anyone else that has been affected by the wasteful, morally corrupt, undemocratic, useless, arrogant politicians from the LabLib Coalition to let them know of the anger they have created and that they no longer deserve to be employed by us.

Any contributions are made possible by our subsidising woodchipping to the extent of around $250 million per year. Gunns returns $60 million as ‘profits’ which means they use the rest of our subsidised timber/water/land/roads/bridges/research etc etc for other purposes.
One of those purposes is dropping the odd payment onto the political parties and other groups they wish to ‘influence’.
It’s a legitimised money laundering system.

Recipe Corner
Politician Souffle – also known as Democracy Mangle (low quality)
Method
(1) Select party candidate on 3 criteria – NAME RECOGNITION, NAME RECOGNITION, NAME RECOGNITION; allow to stand.
(2) Add PROMISES, PROMISES, PROMISES to taste.
(3) Add funds to Front Groups and stir in mischief if other parties are rising to fast.
(4) Cook candidates in election on high heat.
(5) Select successful candidate from election. Reserve remainder for recycling next time.
(6) Bind successful candidate to party with oath of allegiance.
(7) Drain any vestige of allegiance to voters until dry. Discard voters for 4 years.
(8) Add tribal behaviour and party discipline.
(9) Heat with 4 golden rules – never say sorry, never explain, never admit wrong and never disclose secret corporate donations.
(10) Serve party for 4 years with trappings and perks.
For high quality souffle – Democracy Supreme
Replace oath of allegiance to party with oath of allegiance to voters.
Sift out Front Group mischief.
Expose corporate donations to dry.
Replace red and blue colours with independents and greens.
Mix with large servings of voter consultation.
Garnish with ethics commission.

I am a big supporter of your great work, Christopher, Mikes, Pete, and all … please keep it up!
I have cried so hard about the continuing disrespect of Tassie’s power brokers towards the community and our sacred environment that these posts here have made me laugh!
Although the pollies will be taking a four-month break – to gird their loins for next year’s “battle” – a similar break will not be had by those scrutinising the pollies and the process of the Tamar mill!
