The relationship between Gunns Auditors, its Company Secretary and the Annual Report ... 4

Their second-hand reporting would suggest not. If John Gay, as stated by the Examiner was “seeking to avoid publicity” he did not succeed for by chance the Examiner’s Will Swan happened to photograph him on his verandah with both the Police and the Company Secretary, Wayne Chapman.

The one interesting aspect of the photograph is the shirt bearing the KPMG logo as worn by Gunns Wayne Chapman. KPMG is the firm who audit, amongst others the accounts of both Gunns and Forestry Tasmania.

Incredibly Gunns Annual Report to the Stock Exchange had to be submitted three times on the 29th September by Wayne Chapman the Gunns Company Secretary to allow for alterations to the incorrectly stated Chairman and CEO’s salary and entitlements.

I suggest therefore …
… that Gunns relationship with its auditors KPMG could be more circumspect and certainly unworthy of front page newspaper advertorial, if only by chance.

The photograph calls quite pointedly into focus the relationship between Gunns Auditors, its Company Secretary and the Annual Report.
