Premier Fails to Even Show up for Debate!
The Tasmanian Greens today condemned the Bartlett government for voting down their motion to establish an expert and independent review into the Tasmania Tomorrow reform’s implementation and education outcomes.
Greens Leader and Education spokesperson Nick McKim MP said it was disappointing that Education Minister David Bartlett did not even bother to attend the debate.
“It is very telling that David Bartlett is happy to make grand sweeping assertions about the success of the Tasmania Tomorrow reforms, but he is not prepared to put those claims to the test by commissioning an independent and expert review of the system,” Mr McKim said.
“David Bartlett’s failure to show up for this debate will only confirm to teachers and students around the state that he is out of touch with their concerns.”
“If David Bartlett is so confident that his claims are correct then he should welcome the opportunity to have his assertions backed up, and the most credible way of securing such an endorsement would be via an independent review.”
