Premier David Bartlett is forcing Elizabeth College to join his failing Tasmania Tomorrow experiment against the wishes of teachers and in a desperate bid to prop it up.

Just over 83 percent of teachers voted in Wednesday’s ballot, and of these, nearly 60 percent voted against joining Tasmania Tomorrow.

The views of teachers – who are at the frontline of this experiment – should be respected and listened to.

The Premier should do everything he can to avoid strike action occurring. A logical step would be for him to agree that Elizabeth College doesn’t have to join his Tasmania Tomorrow experiment by suspending the process.

To press ahead with forcing Colleges to join Tasmania Tomorrow in the face of teacher and College resistance is fool-hardy in the least, and will not be in the best interests of either students or teachers.
