In reply to (Lady) Fiona Reynolds’ editorial in last Sunday’s (25.10.2009) Examiner, (incredibly entitled “Facts show the fallacy of bias claims”) I would like to inform readers that I have never once complained whether or not my letters to the editor are published or not and it would be in Fiona’s interest in proving her factual honesty if she could show when and where I have ever stated or written such a thing as she insinuated.
Fiona would do better to let her readership also know the truth and full facts in that the only Complaint I had officially lodged regarding the Examiner was to the Press Council of Australia and was with respect to the biased and incitive Examiner articles published surrounding the graffiti and sparkler ‘attack’ on John Gay’s property (as well as many others in that street the same night).
The Examiner articles clearly pointed the finger at a certain section of the community, without any proof whatsoever, while a Police investigation was still underway and I believe the Examiner even conducted a ‘who done it’ poll on the matter which was incredibly inflammatory, divisive and unethical.
The Examiner’s articles’ claims were in fact proven comprehensively wrong by the Tasmanian Police, and still no retraction has come forward.
An apology is due ‘Lady’ Fiona.
