The plethora of articles and programs in your papers, radio and television programs addressing the carnage reaped upon our society by abuse of alcohol and drugs indicates a problem of significant proportion, particularly amongst our youth. Millions of dollars are spent attempting to pick up the pieces and rehabilitate those whose lives have been severely affected. So many young lives are lost in the process.

Would you like to see a solution that is effectively changing this culture of abuse? Over 700,000 children throughout mainland Australia are receiving the benefit of this valuable education program that neatly dovetails into the health curriculum in every
state and territory, as well as in 15 overseas countries as well.

On Monday and Tuesday 19 and 20 October Life Education Australia will be conducting two information days, principally for educators, at Providence Vineyards, 236 Lalla Road, Lalla, the culmination of two year’s planning to bring these valuable programs to Tasmanian children in 2010.

Your Tasmanian Life Education Committee is: Alderman Albert van Zetten, Mayor of Launceston and CEO of the City Mission; Neroli Ellis, State Secretary of the ANF; Peter O’Sullivan, Licensing; Bob Thorpe, Thorpe Transport; Sue Newman, EO of GP Workforce and President of the Children’s Moon beam Charity; and Jennine Perkins, educator, Launceston College.

Members of the state opposition, including Will Hodgman and the Greens will be present. The government has yet to respond.
