TASMANIAN CONSERVATION TRUST, MR
The Tasmanian Conservation Trust has appointed Peter McGlone as Director and Phil Anstie as their new President for 2009-2010. These appointments were made at the TCT’s Annual General Meeting in Hobart on Saturday 29 August 2009.

The TCT Council appointed Peter McGlone to the Director’s position permanently after having held the position of Acting Director since March 2009.

“It is a great honour and an exciting opportunity to be appointed Director of the TCT. It is a very challenging time for all conservation groups with an ever-growing list of environmental problems. On the positive side, the TCT has a great reputation, highly skilled and dedicated staff, councillors and members to help the organisation take on these problems. I am optimistic and believe there are many opportunities to progress conservation even in these difficult times,” said TCT Director Peter McGlone.

Phil Anstie has been a Councillor and Treasurer of TCT for the last 13 years. He is also the Treasurer of Sustainable Living Tasmania and Convenor of the Tranmere-Clarence Plains Land and Coast Care Group in Hobart.

“In the coming year my priority will be to build staff capacity to maintain the high level of independent and informed comment on conservation issues which the TCT has provided for 41 year”, said TCT President Phil Anstie. “Another critical issue for the next year will be provision of better access to information on TCT’s many activities to members, government and other interested people.”

Bob Graham has served as the TCT President over the last three years, the maximum allowed under the TCT constitution, but will remain on the TCT Council.
