TASMANIA’S dairy farmers have scored a major political win. The Australian Senate this morning decided to conduct an inquiry into the milk processing industry, the prices paid to farmers and how market domination impacted on those producing the milk. Tasmania’s dairy farmers pleaded for help last week saying the prices they were being paid did not even meet production costs. Low prices have been compounded by swamping rains and farmers in Tasmania’s North-West report they are struggling to feed both their herds and their families. Read more here
