· Review welcomed, and must be independent
· Process of handling grant applications must be part of review
· Accountability must be top priority
The independent review of Screen Tasmania is welcome.
It is 10 years since Screen Tasmania was established and it is timely that its performance be assessed.
But it is absolutely essential that any review include an assessment of how grant applications are processed. Transparency and accountability is essential when taxpayers’ money is being allocated and both grant recipients and the general public must have confidence in the integrity of the process.
We have so many talented artists and screen professionals in this State, both locals and people who have moved here because of the lifestyle and opportunities Tasmania offers.
I hope that this independent review will provide a solid basis to support further growth in Tasmania’s screen industry.
