The Truth Hurts… or Does It Heal? Pathways to the future from apainful past

‘How can the pain of our past as a nation shape our future? How does history help to heal that pain? To consider critically the choices we must make, who makes them and how, may be crucial to the future success and happiness of all Australians, particularly those who have been marginalised by past decisions and actions.

Considering values and their impact on our choices as a society, involves every agent of education – the home, schooling, media and our workplace – and of course, governance and leadership.

“The exposure of the truth has been seen as necessary for both individual victims and for societies endeavouring to recover from periods of oppression and tyranny.’ Henry Reynolds 2009
