The decision of Gunns to participate in the Portland timber processing facility is potentially good news for those who own plantation forests that were managed by Timbercorp and Great Southern. When Timbercorp collapsed last April people from Gunns were immediately in touch with the official administrators to register their interest in acquiring the management of the timber and to buy the freeholds.
