Dr KEVIN BONHAM
Pilko (#12), I think a James Crotty win, despite his criticisms of his own party, would be a very good result for Labor to have fun spinning in their favour and a real embarrassment for the Liberals, though I don’t think it is a likely result if Honey Bacon’s campaign is a serious effort. A Honey Bacon victory would be more ambiguous for Labor, partly for the reason you suggest and partly because the Liberals could then write off their defeat as down to having a very high profile famous-name opponent. As for the Goodwin ad, if it was such a strong strategy why is it gone? Was it figured that people were most likely to Google opposing candidate names on the day they were announced, or was the idea just to provoke enough controversy to get publicity out of the reaction to it?
