My view is from the perspective of a mainlander living in the Sydney suburbs. Tasmania’s is perceived by most from the mainland as a wilderness wonderland and one of the few clean and un-spoilt havens left in Australia. This is a unique position that is undersold by the Tasmanian Government who appears to be forever courting short term fixes such as pulp mills and bitumen highways through the Tarkine etc and who appear to not understand how to treat or value the natural assets gifted to Tasmanians. The Governments easy short term fixes are to the detriment of Tasmania’s “clean green image”, true wealth and future – the un-spoilt natural beauty. Read more, Comment here
