Eugenia Jenny Williams arrived in Australia as a refugee from Soviet Occupied Czechoslovakia in 1969 and her earlier work, Yenni, A Life Between Worlds, tells the story of her escape from behind the Iron Curtain and subsequent settlement in Hobart. This book was published in 2002.

These books not only tell of Jenny’s personal journey and that of her family – to an Anglo stronghold – 1960s Tasmania – they tell a story of Hobart with a voice that has been long disenfranchised – the immigrant voice.

Zable, whose work often showcases the migrant experience, has written a number of books including Jewels and Ashes (1991), The Fig Tree (2002), Cafe Scheherazade (2001) and Scraps of Heaven (2004).

Both authors will be available for interview on the day and will be answering questions during the launch.
