I came away from this meeting confused and troubled. It was said that some aspects of proposals for major projects would remain secret, between the proponent and the Minister, that there would be no appeals allowed regarding your decisions in such matters and that there would be a ‘call-in’ mechanism, by which you would be able to intervene in projects, take control, invoke secrecy and make a decision which would not be able to be appealed. My parent’s generation got rid of this bullshit in 1945. Sorry for the language, but it has come to this. It is fascism for the organs of govt and its bureaucracy to assume powers which cannot be challenged in law. Has the Labor Party taken leave of its senses? Read more, Comment here
