By blaming the Greens and SWST activists in the total absence of any evidence for the incident where logging machinery was vandalised you have likely incited a violent payback. Today, you have taken environmental politics in Tasmania back 40 years. You had absolutely no basis – absolutely none whatsoever – legal or moral to blame Tasmanian citizens for this crime. In trying to score political points you have probably dogwhistled the violent elements in the anti-green movement to come out and perpetrate another sickening attack attack on forest protesters similar to the one we saw in the South West late last year. Your incredibly hotheaded and reckless words and the fact that you were the only voice in the media today apportioning blame to innocent individuals makes you responsible for any further violence perpetrated against the Tasmanian greens, SWST and other environmental campaigners as payback for the vandalsim. If there is payback violence it is my view that you should resign and that you could and should be charged for inciting violence against Tasmanians who are innocent of any crime.
