TREASURER Michael Aird won’t tell us the names of the three developers wanting to have a crack at 8 hectares of prime real estate behind Parliament House in Hobart.
But informed gossip in our office reckons the favoured three firms are Federal Hotels, Walker Corporation and Hinman Wright & Manser (aka Gunns), with parking space courtesy of Ali Sultan.

THE Government has shortlisted three designs for its Parliament Square redevelopment. Each includes office space, car parking and commercial sites as well as open public space.
The 8100 sq m precinct includes eight buildings behind Parliament House (which was built in 1840).
The plans are on display for six weeks with the winning tender will be selected by July.
Treasurer Michael Aird will not release the tenderers’ names.
“The names of the proponents is not important in the scheme of things and could in fact be a distraction.”
