Florentine Solidarity Action – Meet at Franklin Square 11am Sunday 22/3, then walk to police headquarters.
Florentine Community Walk Ins on 18th and 31st Jan.
iOn both the 18th and 31st of January approximately 500 Tasmanians peacefully gathered to reclaim the Upper Florentine forests from destruction.
Instead of listening to the people’s call for the protection of old growth forests, the Tasmanian government, through Tasmania police, has targeted 11 people who were present at these events and threatened them with charges of trespass and incitement. This action can only be regarded as an attempt to intimidate those who would stand up for our forests. This is but the latest in a series of attempts by Gunns and their government supporters to silence dissenting voices through abuse of the legal system. You are invited to take part in a community action in solidarity with the forests and those people who have been scapegoated by the police.
For info email [email protected], or call Steve on 0429 418 388.
We want to make this a huge action – please tell your friends who cant make it to the forests that this is a great opportunity to support wild forests and rights to protest. We are hoping that many of those who attended the florentine rallies will attend this peaceful action and ask why police have chosen to target only specific people, and not all those who exercised their democratic right to protest.
Want to help prepare for this action ? This is your chance!

“Four weeks ago, tourists had to be evacuated from Baffin Island’s Auyuittuq National Park because of flooding from thawing glaciers. Auyuittuq means ‘land that never melts’. ”
