Tasmanian Media Awards
And the Winners are…

TASMANIAN MEDIA AWARDS 2008
A project of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance:

March 16 2009

Press Release

In a media release from the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance distributed on Saturday evening and listing the various winners of the Tasmanian Media Awards 2008 it was shown that the workplace for Ms Fiona Reynolds, winner of the Award for excellence in Print, Online and Wire Service Journalism was the Mercury. This is incorrect, Ms Reynolds is, in fact, the Editor of the Examiner.

Indeed the judges of the category made particular reference to the changes that she has made to that publication.

However the Alliance would like to apologise for the error and ask that you remove from any files the previous pres release and replace it with the attached information.

At a gala presentation dinner this evening at Rydges Hotel the following people were announced as winners of the various categories of the Tasmanian Media Awards for 2008.

The awards, which are in their thirty first year, recognise in a number of categories, the special skills and experiences that Tasmanian journalists bring to their work. They are a recognition of those members of the profession who demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism. The awards are open to all journalists who work in Tasmania or who produce material that is available to the Tasmanian audience

Guest speaker for the evening was Mr John Martinkus, former specialist reporter with SBS and now a lecturer with the School of Journalism at the University of Tasmania.

Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance Federal Industrial Organiser Pat O’Donnell can be contacted on 0411 757 674 after the presentation ceremony for any comment.
