A Resident who also asks some relevant questions …
FROM building Surveyor’s Report, 29th January, 2009, the report the council claims necessitated its immediate demolition of the Franklin Football Clubhouse. Quote Begins:

I consider that although the building has obvious structural and maintenance issues they are considered to be rectifiable.

The external cladding to the building is reasonably sound and provided maintenance is carried out could be retained.

It is in my opinion that if maintenance and structural rectification work was carried out the building could be saved.

End Quote

And some further questions for Huon Valley Council:
Is it not true that Huon Valley Council agreed to a stay of execution for the clubhouse if uses for it could be found and a detailed recosting of its restoration prepared?

Is it not true that both of these requirements were met , including a costing that was less than half of the council’s claimed costing for restoration, in fact $135,000, not $300,000?

Is it not true that when these asked for requirements were fulfilled and presented to council as agreed, council reneged on the deal and demolished the building following morning?

Smell a hidden agenda anyone?
