Unions call on Liberals to come clean on Public Sector job plans
Unions Tasmania Council Secretary Simon Cocker today called on Liberal leader Will Hodgman to come clean on the Liberals plans for the public sector employment following claims by the shadow Treasurer that 3000 jobs will have to go to balance the books. The question now raised by Mr Gutwein is whether the Liberal party is planning a massive slashing of the public sector in line with TCCI demands or is Mr Gutwein just on a scare campaign.
Mr Cocker said:
“In these difficult economic times it is important that the calm and rational discussions currently going on between the government and public sector unions be allowed to reach agreed solutions. Scaremongering does not help.”
“ Mr Hodgman must now come clean and advise what cuts the Liberals are planning. Is Mr Gutwein softening up the public for a massive Liberal job slashing program if elected.
“It is our hope that we can continue to have constructive dialogue with the government on this but not in an environment of scare mongering.”
