Malcolm of Hobart
As a member of the Nelson electorate I cannot let King Romeo’s (#25) erroneous assertions regarding the re-election of Jim Wilkinson MLC go unchallenged. Jim Wilkinson voted AGAINST the fast tracked asessment of the pulp mill PRIOR to the election thereby neutralising the pulp mill issue during the election campaign with the Greens contendor. However, after gaining re-election he then voted FOR the approval of the construction of the pulp mill itself. When I wrote to challenge him about the seeming duplicity of his turnaround he failed to respond. It is also my understanding that the original text of Clause 11 of the PMAA precluded any legal challenge to the pulp mill process even if it was due to an illegal act! Moreover, the intent of the amended clause is so clear that it could only have been drafted by someone favouring Gunns interests over the public good. The entire PMAA has been based upon a fraudulent process and should therefore be revoked in full.Read more, Comment here
