Why should business be able to cause such a mess and not be responsible to rectify it? It comes down to the poor old taxpayer to pick up the bill yet again and the corporates walk away with their profits. Recently Victoria had a mega-dredge from ? Scandinavian country to dredge Port Phillip Bay for deep ships. Why can’t the Federal government fund to have this dredge clean out the man-made mess in the Tamar? State government and Forestry need to ensure repair and rehabilitation clauses in all contracts including significant industry specific charges to rectify problems caused by industry to protect the Tasmanian people and their environment.
