Let’s see a proper debate

The Tasmanian business leaders want a bigger population for more profits (Examiner 5 December 2008). But hoping for population growth does not take into account the coming
realities over the next 40 years. For starters, let’s take 80% less carbon emissions, less rainfall from climate change, less food production and an oil famine. Where will the extra people get the extra water, extra energy and extra food?

Let’s see a proper debate about a sustainable Tasmania and smaller population because ‘business as usual’ doesn’t cut the mustard and our Liberal and Labor leaders are too weak to admit the truth.
