The so-called Centre-Left

I was a member of the ALP in Tasmania during the 70s and I can assure you that there was no significant Left in those days. There was a broad-based group under the leadership of Leo Brown, there was the NCC rump, and there was a bunch of totally pragmatic, non-ideological, self-interested politicans. I got out because, of the two factions, one I could never agree with and the other I could never trust. Then Field and Patmore formed the so-called Centre-Left, which I could neither agree with nor trust. Read more, Comment here
