Lars is a leading expert in Town Planning whose work delves into the relationship between social life occurring in public spaces and the quality of the built environment. Lars is a senior consultant and associate director at Gehl Architects. he has been a senior lecturer of Urban Design at the Centre for Public Space Research at the School of Architecture in Copenhagen (1978-2006). Lars has a wide international teaching experience from Universities, Conferences and Schools of Architecture all over the world. Additionally Lars Gemzoe has been a senior lecturer at DIS, Denmark’s International Study Program, an University Exchange Program for international students studying in Copenhagen (1983-2003).
Lars’ wider experience includes work as a Public Space Consultant for local authorities, private trusts and independent developers. Recently lars has been actively consulting local authoirties in Australia, the Middle East and Scandanavia, including the Sydney City Council and VicUrban. Lars has served as a competition jury member in large scale public realm projects in Denmark. Lars’ publications include “Public Spaces – Public Life – Copenhagen 1996” awarded the Edra/PLACE Research Award in 1998, “New City Spaces”, 2001 published in Danish, English, Czech, Spanish, Portguese and Chinese editions and “New City Life”, 2006 published in Danish and English.
