In line with the Premier’s commitment to release the discontinued community survey data gathered on behalf of the Tasmanian Government, the information is now available at http://www.dpac.tas.gov.au/fast_facts/tasmanian_community_survey/_nocache
Thirteen separate surveys were undertaken between February 2007 and August 2008 at a total cost of $188,000.
“The head of my department asked my opinion on this community survey work soon after I took over as Premier,” Mr Bartlett said.
“I considered it and reached the conclusion that it was not a high priority for how this public money should be spent.
“Accordingly, I ordered the community surveys be discontinued and that has since occurred.
“I have no problem with demonstrating my commitment to transparency, openness and accountability by making the survey data available for all to see.”
