Subject: On-going Work to Decommission TasMail
As per the notice recently added the TasMail.com home page:
As part of the ongoing work to decommission TasMail, all access to TasMail
accounts will soon be restricted to users connecting to TasMail from within
Networking Tasmania. For users, this will mean access is restricted to your
work location (e.g. DoE, DHHS, DOJIR etc) and you will no longer be able to
access your account from other locations (for example from your home PC)
using the web interface, POP3 or IMAP.
This restriction will be implemented on the 03/11/2008.
TasMail is being retired as the hardware which runs this service is at the
end of its life and many other free webmail services are now available which
provide a similar level of security, along with many other new features.
As TasMail is no longer a supported service customers are encouraged to stop
using their TasMail account and move to other webmail providers (for example
Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail etc.). Customers are also reminded that they will
need to re-subscribe to mailing lists, etc once they have changed their
account.
