The smokestacks at Nanaimo’s Harmac pulp mill are expected to spring back to life again by next month. While many in the city and region are delighted with the resurrection of the mill under new owners, Nanaimo Forest Products, others are not looking forward to dealing with the sulphuric smell and the airborne pollutants from Harmac. Some owners of properties near the mill also fear the impacts on their property values when Harmac and its stacks start up again. Read more here
