Climate Change Forum Featuring Climate Code Red Author
This Thursday evening, Environment Tasmania and Rising Tide Tas. host a forum titled
“The Climate Emergency – Situations and Solutions”. The forum runs from 630pm-845pm at the Dechaineux Theatre, UTAS School of Fine Art, Hunter St, Hobart Waterfront. Entry is by donation.
The forum is hosted by Dr Aidan Davison (UTAS School of Geography and Environmental Studies), and features a panel of:
• David Spratt: Carbon Equity, Co – author – Climate Code Red
• Wendy Spencer: Tasmanian Climate Change Office
• Liila Haas: Future Tasmania/The Climate Project
• Peter Boyer: Al Gore’s The Climate Project
.
“Environment Tasmania is pleased to be co-hosting a forum with this calibre of presenters. David Spratt is the co-author of Climate Code Red, a new book detailing up to the minute science that shows the depth of the climate emergency, and details the political and economic changes required to return the earth’s climate to a safe level. NASA’s James Hansen, one of the world’s pre-eminent climate scientists, has said of Climate Code Red ‘It is a compelling case for recognising….. that we face a climate emergency’,” said Environment Tasmania spokesperson Simon Branigan.
“We are also pleased to welcome Wendy Spencer, the Acting Executive Director of the Tasmanian Climate Change Office, who will speak on the Tasmanian government’s response to climate change, and Peter Boyer and Liila Hass, Tasmanians who are well known for their knowledge and advocacy on climate change and sustainability issues,” Simon Branigan said.
“With the looming threat of climate change induced bushfires and a severe, ongoing drought, the warning signs of the climate emergency are becoming more apparent in Tasmania. Environment Tasmania welcomes people to attend this forum and learn about the situations faced in Tasmania, and globally, and the solutions that can be found,” Simon Branigan said.
“This forum also marks the first public event co-organised by Rising Tide Tas., a new local organisation dedicated to promoting real action on climate change issues,” Simon Branigan said
