Dear Sir/Madam,
We would greatly appreciate your co-operation with a project we have undertaken to raise awareness of an issue, which affects our community.
Background Information.
Blackstone is a small, long established suburb in Ipswich, Queensland. Our School has a proud history dating back 121 years to 1887 and has a current and stable enrolment of approximately 150 students. It was established by the Welsh coal mining community and has retained strong links with its past, whilst embracing more modern educational trends. It is much loved by its students & community and we are desperate to keep our beloved school and its excellent educational standards alive so they have been by so many generations in the past.
We are attempting to communicate with as many past students, staff and parents of Blackstone State School ( Ipswich Queens land) as a matter of utmost urgency and would be grateful if you could publish the attached letter in your “Letters to the Editor” column as soon as possible.
Thanking you in anticipation of your co-operation.
Jenny Hinks
Save Our School
This a heartfelt and urgent plea to all former Blackstone State School students, staff and parents.
It is much loved by its students and community and we are desperate to keep our beloved school and its excellent educational standards alive so they can be experienced and enjoyed by generations to come, just as they have been by so many generations in the past.
The Queensland Government has made the irrational decision to close our school!
They have shown complete disregard for our community’s wishes and have reneged on their previous undertaking that the school would not close if the community were not in favour of the idea.
We need your help and support.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE contact the undermentioned people and lobby them on our behalf. Let them know how disappointed and outraged you are at their decision.
Please write and tell them of great educational experiences as a student of the school and of your subsequent life successes which arose from that education.
