Are they GM trees?

Break O’ Day Council have asked CSIRO if the E.nitens grown in monoculture plantations are GM trees, as they have been unable to determine an answer from normal information avenues. (Letters and cartoon to the Examiner Sat 13-9-08)
Has the relevant Tasmanian Minister given any permission for any GM trees or for field trials of any GM trees in Tasmania during the last 30 years?
