This poll will give new Premier David Bartlett some solace as he tries to manage the latest crises facing his government. Despite what voters may think of Labor, the fact that they have not moved over to the Liberals means they are there to be won back. He is still ahead of Will Hodgman 40/33 as preferred premier, so it seems voters are giving him a chance to right the listing Labor ship.
It seems Mr Bartlett is preferring the “Peter Beattie” option: admit there are problems and promise to fix them. This worked for Queensland premier Beattie and it might just work here. Read more here
