All this speculation comes after a year in which Tasmania’s three political parties have fallen into line on the idea of introducing fixed four year terms. It is a debate in which I have some personal interest, though not over the principle of fixed parliamentary terms. Rather, my concern is why all three of Tasmania’s political parties are conspiring to choose an election date guaranteed to minimize media coverage of the election, and from an entirely selfish personal point of view, prevent me from covering the next Tasmanian election.
