On the 27th April 2008 I emailed Peter Garrett regarding the degradation of our air quality from forestry activity. Three months on I have received a reply from his minion …

In fact I have emailed him many times, but this is the first ever reply so tonight I celebrate this historic event from a man who was once my hero, now fallen from might and apparently a part of the machine he so once so despised, by interpretation of his lyrics eg “Knife’s edge”….

On a knife edge razor day
If you listen long enough they’ve got nothing to say

It’s a time warp place don’t change
The rhythm of the night, the beating rain

You move fast to get off of that merry-go-round

There’s one gun, probably more
And the others are pointing at our backdoor

At the best hotel of all
Put my name on the wall, put my bed on the floor

You get much less well it seems like more
Hearts still sore

Word crimes
Bitter lies
Bitter crimes
Government lies

The thing with this reply is that it handballs the responsibility to the state government and its dubious “Forest Practices Code”.

Well that means we all just sit back and watch the forests burn I suppose……Peter, I am deeply cut and to me you are just another loser and to quote you, “better to die on your feet than to live on your knees”……sad man you are.
