It has long been known that deforestation is one of the main reasons for greenhouse gas emissions and that plantations do not stay in the ground long enough to act as a carbon sink. The Tasmanian government is hoodwinking, not just Tasmania, but the whole planet, with its clean, green spiel.
Tasmania is a contributing factor to climate change.
It has long been known that deforestation is one of the main reasons for greenhouse gas emissions and that plantations do not stay in the ground long enough to act as a carbon sink. The Tasmanian government is hoodwinking, not just Tasmania, but the whole planet, with its clean, green spiel.
This is short-term gain, for a foreign board of directors, at Tasmania’s and the world’s expense. It is hard to believe these people can be so stupid when the evidence is right in front of them.
I have heard people say that climate change is a good thing, if we get warmer winters. I have heard others say, it can’t be true because the frost is so thick this year. What climate change actually means is extremes will be felt at both ends of the scale. In some cases, colder winters, in others, colder summers. For instance, should the arctic ice melt rapidly, the cold stream of fresh water moving swiftly into the warm currents of the Gulf Stream, will most likely cause an Ice-age in Europe and North America.
Of course, none of this is relevant in Tasmania and in any case it won’t happen until years after we are dead and buried. Well, think again, this article online from the BBC today shows that the Arctic ice could be completely gone in 5 years.

Whether it causes an ice age in Europe or not, two million plus square miles of ice is a heck of a lot of water and it has to go somewhere. It will mean a huge area of the earth’s land mass will be under water, because islands don’t float. These people will want to go somewhere, in order to survive.
It is not just the island people who will be displaced. Most of the world’s capital cities are close to sea level. All of Australia’s capital cities are at sea level and with sea level rises predicted in the region of 17 metres, who is on high ground? More importantly, do you have any spare rooms? Time to stop cutting down our trees and giving the forests away to foreign investors at the expense of everyone else.
