ANIMAL welfare centres are being forced to kill more than 40 cats per week as stray and feral feline numbers in Tasmania continues to escalate. In an effort to control the unwanted and wild cat population, the state government is considering mandatory micro-chipping and de-sexing of all pet cats as part of a discussion paper that is now available for public comment. It includes proposed legislation for when and how a cat at large, can be killed. Read more here
