Feral cats hanging from the fence on the side of the road are there for a very good reason. They represent a small portion of a huge disaster occurring in the countryside across Tasmania and Australia. This disaster is occurring silently at night, out of view to most people, as arguably nature’s most successful killer, the cat, decimates Tasmania’s small marsupial and bird wildlife. The farming community is plagued with a disease called toxoplasmosis, which causes abortion in lambing ewes and is contagious to humans. Read more here
