Tell Tassie’s FM stations where to go!

As readers well know, the Tapp boy is doing well in America, England, Japan, etc: Cam’s big trip
But apart from ABC Radio, can he get his music played in his home state?
Not a dickie bird.
That’s because the FM stations are all run out of Sydney and can only play what their Sydney masters tell them.
It would be a great little campaign for Tasmanian Times to run to make them play not just Cameron’s music but that of other QUALITY Tassie acts like Beathoven who have recorded with Tony Sheridan, the guy the Beatles once backed.
SUPPORTING TASMANIAN MUSIC – HOW ABOUT IT.
The time has come for us to encourage the allegedly local commercial radio stations to be just that: local.
We say this because we have one of our very own out their on the world stage, rattling up the charts in the US, performing before 150,000 in London.
Can you hear his songs in his home town. No, unless you listen to ABC Local Radio, capital L, really local.
Ask local musicians what sort of response they get if they approach the FM music stations about playing their songs. The response usually ends with off.
The music we hear in Hobart is controlled from Sydney.
But we can change that.
We can ring up the FM stations and ask them, no tell them, to support quality Tasmanian music.
And if that does work, there’s a little knob on the radio that works a treat, particularly around ratings time.
