Two level 10 vacancies ($76,000 each) for project officers to oversee the “new RHH” have just been advertised –
“Pre-employment conditions: There are no pre-employment conditions for this position”.

Little wonder that we lack strategic planning in policy-making and make poor decisions that impact adversely on Tasmanians for generations when we pay such paltry sums and require so few qualifications for officers – an appropriate university degree should be a minimum requirement for such work. Government salaries and processes are completely out of wack e.g. at the other extreme, Hornsey (and now ex-forestry Rolley) receive more than the premier of the state (approx. $300,000 pa) and are put into such over-paid positions without advertisement or selection processes that would secure the services of the best people – and discourage politicising the public service.
