Hag comment: Well, surprise, surprise. I once thought Rough Red would be outa there pretty quickly, persuaded as I was by Sue Neales’ often superb commentary which at one stage held that Red was on the verge of quitting. But a wise old sceptic, over absinthe, counselled me that this is not Red’s way. He is an Eastern European Stalin clone at heart who loves to watch his lieutenants crash and burn, just like Jo. And it’ll take a stake through the heart to be rid of him. Bit cruel. Might be true!
