A BOOK LAUNCH

The Rug-Maker of Mazar-e Sharif

by Najaf Mazari & Robert Hillman

at RUGS & KILIMS, 208 Elizabeth Street, HOBART

3 pm, Sunday 1 June 2008

This delightful and moving book traces the story of an Afghani refugee’s amazing journey from shepherd boy in the mountains of northern Afghanistan, his flight from the Taliban, imprisonment in the Woomera Detention Centre, to owner of a successful Afghan rug shop in Melbourne.

Launched by Andrew Wilkie, the man who told the truth about the Iraq war, and whose own journey also led him to the rug trade – as owner of Rugs & Kilims.
