FEWER than one-third of all Tasmanians are satisfied with the performance of Premier Paul Lennon. A new political poll released yesterday showed Mr Lennon’s personal approval rating has slumped from 33 per cent in May last year to just 30 per cent last week. It is the lowest rating for Mr Lennon in the regular EMRS opinion polls since he became Premier in March 2004. For the first time – and despite three political “makeovers” in the past 18 months – Mr Lennon’s approval rating has now fallen below the level of electoral support for his Labor Government. The statewide opinion poll of 1000 voters also found that the same proportion of Tasmanians now want to vote for the Liberal Opposition as for Labor. If an election had been held last week, the Labor and Liberal parties would have each secured 31 per cent of the vote, with the Greens winning 18 per cent. Read more here
