(Dick Smith family) A collective of Tasmanian Conservation bodies will hold a press conference tomorrow (Monday) to express their concerns regarding yet another proposed development to the Crescent Bay Region on the Tasman Peninsula.

Mr Mead states: despite growing public opinion opposing development at Crescent Bay, Mr Smith and family are determined to construct their exclusive tourist complex near what is described as the jewel of the Tasman Peninsula. Mr Mead said our fight for the preservation of the region will see the campaign move well beyond Tasmania and in to the national arena as conservationists will continue to defend this priceless region, which has been described as one of the most strikingly beautiful and high conservation regions in the southeast of the state.
Mr Mead said the welfare of the breeding White-bellied Sea-eagles and the ongoing preservation of the immediate area has been a particularly emotive issue for many locals and conservationists. Ironically it was Mr Smith who stated back in late September 2007, If the lodge effects the eagles we won’t build the lodge and concluded: I dont wont to be involved unless the people want it
Mr Mead claims the public must now be shaking their heads with questions, disbelief and mistrust to why a self acclaimed conservationist would consider such an innapropriate development that ultimately impacts upon the immediate environment and adjacent national park which hosts vulnerable, sensitive and high conservation identified flora and fauna.
