MAJOR ANTI-PULPMILL RALLY TO OCCUR IN HOBART, SATURDAY 17 NOVEMBER 2007

The Wilderness Society will hold an anti-pulpmill rally in Hobart on Saturday the 17th of November.

“A majority of the Tasmanians do not want the pulp mill,” said Wilderness Society Tasmanian Campaign Coordinator, Geoff Law. “Yet they are being ignored by Mr Howard and Mr Rudd.”

“This is the last opportunity before the election for Tasmanian families to tell both Mr Rudd and Mr Howard that the mill is a threat to Tasmania’s clean, green future”.

The rally will begin at Franklin Square at 12:30pm and will be followed by a march through the streets of Hobart.

A media campaign will begin on Monday across the State which will include a television ad that shows spectacular aerial footage of thousands of Tasmanians with giant letters spelling STOP THE PULP MILL on the beach opposite the ocean outfall of the mill’s effluent near low Head in northern Tasmania.
