Mr Llewellyn and contamination
Dr Alison Bleaney
Are you suggesting that follow up results of contamination events in water supplies cannot be accessed publicly and that FOI’s are required for these results?
Dear Peter,
As explained to the media contact person who I initially asked for results relating to Minister Llewellyn’s media release of 17/10/07 and as I am sure you are aware, I am concerned about the environmental and public health of water users. I also explained that I had written a community audit on water quality in NE Tasmania earlier this year.
Results of quarterly water testing are posted on DPIWs own website for public information and scrutiny.
Are you suggesting that follow up results of contamination events in water supplies cannot be accessed publicly and that FOI’s are required for these results?
Cheers,

I am happy to clarify any media releases etc that DPIW put out on investigations or test results however I am unable to simply provide details of work undertaken by the Spray Unit without appropriate clearances ,eg FOI application.
I note my previous email has already appeared in print.

Tests in Western Creek (twice) have proved negative .No chemicals found. Actually tested for a suite of chemicals including simazine and atrazine,sulfometuron-methyl,MCPA and 2,4-D plus most others as per the suite of chemicals tested for in the quarterly monitoring.
The Macquarie River has had simazine levels that have been consistently around the 0.89 – 1.27 ug/L.These were registered at the monitoring station at Trefusis.
The latest test result I have is for 3/10 and this dropped to 0.29 so hopefully that trend will continue.I have just taken another test to verify that it is still on the way down.

Thanks for email of 23/10.
Can you perhaps tell me what levels of simaxine have been found in the Mcquarie river over the 3/12 and what chemical(s) were found in Western Creek?
Thanks for your assistance.
