David Bartlett, just like Joe Hockey has no understanding of how to treat people during negotiations. They both think they can trample over people instead of listening, respecting, cooperating and not (using the last resort) of issuing ultimatums… Because that means you have failed.

DAVID Bartlett claimed that the teacher’s union leadership forced the upcoming strike.

He obviously has not stood in front of a mass meeting of union members and tried to force those people to do anything they do not want to do. It simply cannot be done, grown up people make their own minds up on what they as a group will do.

They will not be led by the nose.

Most politicians’ do not understand that real democracy operates in unions. That is why you hear them call on Union leaders to control their membership.

When it suits the Liberals, they portray the “Union Bosses” as some sort of powerful Mafia type figures who are capable of bringing down businesses and or Governments.

David Bartlett, just like Joe Hockey has no understanding of how to treat people during negotiations. They both think they can trample over people instead of listening, respecting, cooperating and not (using the last resort) of issuing ultimatums… Because that means you have failed.

When David Bartlett finally realises that the product of the education system is high quality education not kids who pass this or that test. Those exams are a way to see how well teachers are delivering high quality education. Exams show teachers how they are doing, not how the kids are doing.

Beating up on unions might be good diversionary politics but it does not help build a climate conducive to providing our society ‘quality education’ and all the benefits it brings.
