Local organisations team up to reward youth success

Two Tasmanian organisations – CPA Australia’s Tasmanian Division and Synateq – are putting their money where their mouth is and offering a $20,000 reward for Tasmania’s best young accounting or finance professional through the Synateq CPA Australia Young Accountant Awards. Nominations close on 12 October and the prize winner will be announced on 31 October.

By entering, both young people and their employers can win.

Nominees will compete for a cash prize of $5000 and a laptop computer donated by Synateq. The winner’s employer will receive a license for QlikView Business Intelligence software valued at $5000 and a $10,000 gift voucher for Greentree Business Software.

The awards feature regional categories for the south, north and northwest, with regional winners competing for the overall state title of Young Accountant of the Year.

“We wanted to do more than give lip-service to the talented under-35 Tasmanians in the accounting and finance professions,” says CPA Australia Tasmanian Director, Allyson Warrington. “We want to recognise and showcase their contributions in a tangible way. So, we created the Synateq CPA Australia Young Accountant Awards – the richest young accounting award in the state.”

Ms Warrington said the awards recognise individuals who have excelled in their workplace in areas such as team management, budget and staffing control, as well as those who have made a significant contribution to their community.

She said the awards also highlight the importance of strong partnerships between employers and young professionals.

“I encourage all employers to nominate a young person who is making a positive contribution to their organisation and the accounting profession,” says Ms Warrington.

Nomination forms and further information can be found at www.synateq.com or by calling CPA Australia on 6281 8701.
