Greens Senator Bob Brown challenged the project’s opponents to come up with a better idea for the site. “If the area’s going to be privately developed, we couldn’t do much better than that one,” he said of the proposed development, adding that it was unheard of for a modern business developer to commission a study into the impacts on birds. But he said it was a chance for the State Government to buy the land and make it state reserve.
